Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has outscored his teammate at each of the last five grands prix.
The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the top spot in the closing stages of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the title advantage from Piastri by one point after taking the win in Mexico City a fortnight back, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before the sprint shootout scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, sitting with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, finished in 17th position as his team followed a unique setup.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he rotated at Turn Four early in the session.
The Japanese slid over the exit kerbs before sliding over the run-off area, and was lucky to escape with just a light touch of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also lost it, at the very end of the session, turning around through the fast downhill corner before the final corner on to the main straight.
The seven-time champion ended the session in 19th, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber P3, 0.619secs slower than Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
